Qualifications

What qualifications can I receive?

During the test phase, you can receive either a Certificate of Participation or a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS). The programmes offered by museOn | advanced education and network are structured as a building block system. This means that you can take either individual courses (each requiring a 25 to 30 hours of learning time) or combine them as modules with the aim of receiving a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS). A CAS comprises two modules which can be combined as required. The University of Freiburg is an associate member of Swissuni, the Swiss Union of University Further Education Institutions which has committed to maintaining the Swissuni basic quality principles

Certificate of Participation

You will receive a certificate of participation in a simple training course: The courses consist of a 25 to 30 hours learning time and correspond to one credit point (1CP). The module components can be studied either completely online or in a group lecture or online phases are supplemented with a brief attendance period.

Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS)

You are striving for an academic qualification in museum work? The Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) is the primary university further education qualification, which will enable you to develop your expertise in selected subjects. At museOn, a CAS corresponds to a total of 12 credit points (CP) and requires a study investment of some 300 hours (incl. private study). The CAS comprises two modules, which are for the most part freely combinable. They are suitable for part-time study and, apart from on-line phases, include two or three attendance sessions per semester as well as project work. The CAS starts with an obligatory introductory course (propaedeutics) that requires a weekend attendance. A CAS is so designed that it can be studied in one semester. Please, ascertain the attendance dates and plan for sufficient free time from professional and private commitments to be able to cope with the additional learning demands.
