Mission Statement
Museums, exhibitions and collections are centres of knowledge interchange and social discourse and, as such, unique learning and experience venues with high innovative potential. The work in a museum requires specific technical scientific, curatorial, mediatory, organisational, and, increasingly, management-related skills.
It is museOn’s objective to cover all areas of the museum, exhibition and collection world, embracing collecting, describing, interpreting, filing, preserving, restoring, conserving, borrowing, insuring, transporting, exhibiting, animating, inspiring, entertaining, mediating, shaping, educating, learning, training, advanced training, advertising, organising, communicating, managing, guiding etc.
museOn develops scientific advanced education programmes for the target-oriented professional development of museum experts. Thanks to the involvement of partners from the museum scene via public-private partnerships, the dynamics and innovation of the programmes are constantly adapted to the needs of the participants. In addition, the requirements of a fast-growing and ever-changing market are taken into account. The modular programmes are aimed at a dialogue in line with sustainable, multifunctional applicable and future-oriented technologies using multidimensional communication strategies.
museOn researches the conditions of museum-related advanced education. Research focuses on issues of mediation of collection knowledge, exhibition concept and public relations work. The development of suitable learning environments for museum-related advanced education is also a key research point.
museOn networks students and lecturers, museums and universities and promotes the exchange at all levels of museum work. Via a digital community, students are able to actively participate in the development of the “Museum of the Future”.
